The problem with human compassion:

'The little dog lost at sea'
In DIANE's class we read a magazine article. SHANKAR VEDANTAM is the author, and he examined a really important dilemma: why does dog tug our hearts more than a distressed nation of millions?
After his study he found that this matter had a relation with a psychological side of a person; He compared the brain of the person to a telescope, so our telescope is more focused on a single person and not on the masses. There are a lot of people who suffer but few dogs which are in the same situation as Hokget. Also, one hundred dogs don't have a single face, a single name, a single life, story around which we can wrap our imagination and our compassion.
When i read this article I was frankly sad for that because a vast majority of people gave a lot of money to rescue this dog, and on the other hand we see everyday in the television millions of people who need just a fraction of this money to live, a billion children need to eat, to wear, to learn, but there is no help no interest. But why? I think that instead of getting a dog, why not adopt a child and give him some tenderness and warmth? why not trying to help the homeless?
For me, I think that if each person did that, and helped at least one person, the world will be balanced and life will be white, pure and happy for everyone.:):)
